Laughter in the Dark
Vladimir Nabokov
Recommendation inspired by:
The language of lying — Noah Zandan
The way this tale of deception unfolds is totally diabolical, and Nabokov is a master of making you relate to characters whose behavior you would (hopefully) never replicate. I keep revisiting Laughter in the Dark even though I know what happens.
