Why we love this book:
From the very beginning, it seems as though Vivian's character jumps out of the pages of City of Girls and sits next to you to tell a rich tale about 1940's theater world in NYC. It's a world full of characters who are volatile, glamorous, and self-absorbed. Yet, they are also compassionate and vulnerable. While reading this novel, you get to know Vivian so intimately that it feels like you're gossiping with a close friend about all the trouble and mischief one can get into. She is funny, kind, and flawed. More importantly, Vivian grants you permission to make mistakes as you navigate and learn from the curveballs life throws at you.
