If you fail, you’ll be trapped in the manor forever. Can you do it? This is the plight facing Aiden Bishop in Stuart Turton’s inventive thriller, "The 7 1/2 Deaths of Evelyn Hardcastle." While I have always been an avid reader, the early days of the COVID-19 pandemic made it nearly impossible for me to sit and focus on a book. Turton’s page-turner was the first novel after a several months-long drought that was able to completely capture my attention and remind me what I was missing. Replete with time loops, body swaps, and a seriously psychopathic footman, this mystery is one you won’t be able to put down— and with an ending you won’t see coming. It’s Agatha Christie by way of Groundhog Day. Downton Abbey by way of Inception. Heart-pounding suspense by way of absolute befuddlement. In other words, it's an unmissable delight.
