One Hundred Years of Solitude

Why should you read "One Hundred Years of Solitude"? - Francisco Díez-Buzo

Why we love this book:
Filled with supernatural phenomena so common that normal events become magical, One Hundred Years of Solitude follows the lives of seven generations of the Buendía family in the fictional town of Macondo. The novel recounts their challenges, triumphs, and failures in such lush detail that if you skip a sentence you might lose your place in the narrative. Just below the surface, you can also find parallels between the fictional events of the book and the actual events of Latin American history, reflecting both the omnipresence of tragedy and the possibilities for hope in even the worst situations.
