Real life sunken cities - Peter Campbell
Sometimes a slap in the face is more effective than a pat on the head. That's why The Water Will Come, an undoubtedly distressing book, is a welcome shock to the system. Globetrotter Jeff Goodell visits several coastal communities to see how they're handling rising sea levels. He finds that in almost every country, the outlook is dangerously shortsighted. From investing in infrastructure that will be obsolete once operational to simply treading water, few leaders have more than a 10-year plan for a 100-year problem. Here's hoping Goodell's hard truths can shake us out of our apathy and into action.
